Hip Pain Physical Therapy in Hackensack, NJ

Stop Managing Hip Pain. Fix It.

Active adults dealing with hip pain come to us when they're tired of being told to rest, modify, and wait it out. We find what's actually driving it and address it at the source.

The Hip Pain That Keeps Coming Back Isn't Going to Fix Itself.

Rest Didn't Fix It the First Time.

Taking time off is a reasonable first response. But when the pain returns the moment you get back to training, rest was never the solution. The root cause is still there.

You Were Told to Just Modify Around It.

Avoiding certain movements, swapping exercises, scaling back — that's managing, not solving. If hip pain keeps dictating what you can and can't do, the problem hasn't been addressed.

General PT Treated the Hip. Not the Cause.

Many people have done PT for hip pain and still aren't back to full activity. When the assessment is incomplete and the root cause goes unidentified, exercises alone can't get you there.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions from active adults dealing with hip pain before booking with us.

Do I need imaging or a referral to come in?

No referral is needed. New Jersey allows direct access to physical therapy. As for imaging, you don't need X-rays or an MRI before your first visit. We conduct a thorough movement assessment that identifies what's driving your hip pain and guides the plan from there.

Can you help if I've already tried PT before?

Yes, and this is common. Most people who come to us have already done PT with limited results. What's different here is the one-on-one model, the comprehensive assessment, and the focus on finding the root cause rather than running a standard protocol. A new set of eyes often makes a significant difference.

Will I have to stop training while we work on this?

Our goal is to keep you as active as possible throughout care. We work with you to identify what's tolerable, what needs adjustment, and how to keep you moving while we address the underlying issue. Most patients don't stop entirely — they train smarter.

How is hip pain PT different from seeing an orthopedic surgeon?

An orthopedic surgeon evaluates for structural damage and determines whether surgery is appropriate. Physical therapy addresses movement quality, tissue restrictions, strength deficits, and mobility issues — the factors that drive most hip pain before surgery becomes a conversation. Many people avoid surgery entirely with the right PT care.

Do you accept insurance?

Ethos Physical Therapy is a cash-based, self-pay clinic. We do not bill insurance directly. We can provide superbills for out-of-network reimbursement, and we submit OON claims as a courtesy through Reimbursify at no cost to you. HSA and FSA payments are accepted.
